Space Saving Solutions for Small Bedrooms

When you live in a small room, it can be frustrating finding a place for all your belongings, without tripping over everything. Thankfully, there are many different ways you can create more space in a tiny room if you are willing to get a little bit creative.

Here are 5 ideas to suit all budgets, to make your small room work for you.

Under the bed storage

In a small room, a bed is likely going to take up most of the space. You can make this work for you by opting for a bed that provides storage space underneath, such as divan beds. These provide a clean and tidy way to store your belongings, anything from books and magazines, to clothes. You can also opt for beds with a storage area in the headboard. This storage space is especially handy if there is not enough room for a wardrobe.

Door hangers

Door hangers are a great way to store items while saving space. You can buy door hangers for scarves and coats, but also shoes and clothes. This is a great way to make the space you already have work for you.

Floating desk

With more and more people working from home, you likely need a dedicated space to hook up your laptop and put your head down. Working on your bed or your sofa will not do your back or posture any good. Finding a workspace is important, and a floating shelf might just do the trick. A floating shelf can be drilled into any wall, and you can get them in a range of sizes, some small enough just to fit a laptop, while others stretching the length or a wall, to house other belongings at the same time. You could also layer floating shelves, by adding more up and across the wall, so you can store your books, files and other belongings without taking up any more space.

Customised cabinets

The problem with bulk standard cabinets in small rooms is that they take up unnecessary space. With a customised cabinet, you can make it as shallow or deep as you require, as well as tailor it to be compact and fit into the smallest corners and create more space for you to use. If you have the budget, you may find a company that can do this for you. Alternatively, if you are willing to get crafty, you can create one yourself.

Radiator covers

Radiator covers are not just an aesthetically pleasing addition to your room. A cover can also serve as storage space. Radiators take up space, cannot easily be moved or removed and you also cannot safely store things on them. That’s where a cover comes in handy. It is a tailor made cover that also doubled as a shelf, which means you can utilise what was once wasted space.

There are many ways you can think outside the box and free up space in your small room. The more you are willing to get creative and crafty, the more options there are for you. By creating the solutions yourself, you are able to customise the size and shape to better suit your room.
